Send Offerings to "Tai Sui" (17/02/2005)
Tai Sui Ye's Altar

I had 3days leave from 14/02/2005 (Mon) - 16/02/2005 (Wed), so rightfully im suppose to report back to today (which i didn't), cos i had a very bad sore throat after all the heaty stuffs i ate thru the Chinese New Year.

Earlier this morning, after i called office to inform that im not reporting to work due to the sore throat, i immediately called up my Family Doctor (Dr Goh Wei Liang) to make an appointment to see him. His clinic is located near Chinatown, to be exact, its @ Chin Swee Rd (used to stay @ Jalan Kukoh since birth til the age of 13). The doctor said my right Tonsil is very swollen and also running a slight fever. He prescribe me with some Anti-biotics and some flu pills. He's really a very good doctor as i will be alright after taking 3 - 4 times the medications he prescribe.

While i was about to head back home, i remembered that some one told me that in year 2005, those people born in the year of Rooster, Horse, Rabbit and Rat had offened "Tai Sui". (And im born in the year of the Rooster O.o) i was thinking, since i have the time today, so i called up my cousin, who is also born in the year of the Rooster to accompany me to send some offerings to "Tai Sui". We went to a temple in Havelock Road, to our surprise, quite alot of people is queuing up to send offerins as well. There will be a person taking down our day, month and year of birth and also our Chinese names and write it down on a piece of yellow paper. We are also required to pay $8.00 to buy the necessary incense for the ritual.

After that we will have to wait for more people to come, and when they have gathered enough people, we will have to go over to the altar and a priest will chant, read out our names 1 by 1 and sprinkled Holy Water on use. After which, the priest will give use some food (red dates, olive etc...) for us to eat, saying that its for good luck in the coming year.

After the ritual, my cousin and i went to read some articles on the dos and don'ts for people that are born in the year of the Rooster. We found out that we are best to avoid traveling and attending funerals on the Lunar month of Feb, May, Aug and Nov. In this year, we are to be more humble and be more patient, and also not to have suspicion on people thinking that they might harm us. Keeping low profile is also 1 of the 'dos' and always have 'team work', avoid working alone. And most importantly take all advice seriously, consider carefully whenever anybody gives us an advice. The article also advice people born in Rooster year to wear more "Blue" and "Green" outfits. And our lucky colour for this year will be "Green" and "White" and our lucky number will be 3358 and 1388.
